The Clio Cup is a recognised feeder series
into British Touring Cars, with a third of drivers in the BTCC,
having graduated from Renault championships, including former
double BTCC champion - Jason Plato and triple World Touring Car
Champion – Andy Priaulx.
The ELF Renault Clio Cup championship provides a tough proving ground for both experienced and young career drivers. Watched every race weekend by UK’s biggest motorsport crowds and with extensive TV audiences on ITV1 and Sky MotorsTV, it represents superb value for sponsors.
2007 saw the launch of the ‘new’ Clio,
with factory sealed 205bhp engines, six speed sequential racing
gearbox, large Brembo brakes, slick dry and wet tyres and stiffened
race suspension. This ensures a level playing field for all competitors,
where driver and set-up skills are paramount to achieving success.
