The opening rounds of

Cup were held at Brands
Hatch, and me and the
team wanted to start
this season where we
left off at Thruxton
last year in the top ten. more

Rds 3/4 - Rockingham >
After being 5th fastest in the morning session
of Friday practice,
all was looking good
for qualifying at Rockingham for rounds 3&4. More

So as the field went around onto their second green flag lap, I pulled into the pits and had my team change my tyres to slicks. They were changed and I was waiting at the end of the pit lane before the lights went out on the start of the race. The field flied past and I emerged from the pit lane, as I turned into the first corner, the back end broke away on coldtyres and I ended up facing the wrong way. After many spins and spectacular slides, I realised I had been a bit hasty in my coming in for slicks. As the leading four drivers lapped me, I was just getting the grip levels I needed, and they never pulled away from me, and by the end of the race, I was having to back off as to not get involved in the front-runners battles.

So with no hope of a points finish, I set about to the only thing left, fastest lap. I dropped back from the leaders, and reeled them in throughout the lap, getting faster and faster lap after lap, and by the end of the race, I had the fastest lap by about 1.5 seconds As I pulled in after the race I was told I had fastest lap, and with it 2 championship points. So not so bad after all!
