ROCKINGHAM 2008 - RDs 3 & 4 I lined up
in the first race in 9th, and got a blinding start and had passed
the row infront of me before exiting the banked turn 1. After
cleanly getting round the hairpin I found myself and Carl Bradley
fighting for 5th position. My car started to slide out in turn
4 but I was just collecting it and dropping in behind Bradley
when a driver behind was coming round my outside, we both tried
to fill the same place on the road at the exit, and as I was still
just ahead, I rolled around his bonnet, and ended up on the grass.
I got back on track in 14th, but after more contact from drivers
behind using me as a brake later on in the race, they bent my
rear axle on both sides, and I limped home in 20th, collecting
the final point.
With it all to do in race two, it didn’t help starting in
27th. After two cars touched in the flat out 6th gear banked turn
one, three cars ended up getting wrecked up against the concrete
wall. I knew a safety car would be deployed at the end of the
lap, so needed to make as many places as possible. MORE>
