Rds 3/4 - Rockingham >
After being 5th fastest in the morning session
of Friday practice,
all was looking good
for qualifying at Rockingham for rounds 3&4. More

On the Tuesday I went down to Silverstone to attend a track day to familiarise myself with the long GP track we’d be racing at the following weekend, only to have it cut short due to torrential rain.

Only a handful of laps into Friday practice, a drive belt shredded itself, and could possibly have done serious damage to the engine. Luckily it hadn’t, but it did mean that it was the end of my session. So I’d be going into qualifying with limited experience around the track. This resulted in a 20th and 18th.

A spin early on in the first race put me to the back, with me then being only able to hang onto the cars in front. Our limited testing now showing problems with the car setup. With radical changes for the second race I made up 4 places and was all over the back of pierce and smith, but running wide coming into Luffield saw me slide into the gravel. Unfortunately I bounced out of the gravel straight into the car that had been following me, and this contact damaged my suspension, and I limped into the pits to end a disappointing week in my motorsport career.
