2008 The session started
well, and after the tyre change I went out to set my fast flat
out qualifying laps. I set a time of 1:18:2, which was faster
than anybody had gone all yesterday in testing. As in came round
to set my second lap, i saw that the previous one had put me into
5th. I came into the pits the following lap to conserve the tires
and car, very happy with the position we were in. But that was
short lived, as with only 5 or 6 minutes left on the session,
the times started falling, and I'd drifted out to 11th. So I went
back out to improve my own time. But coming down past the pit
wall onto my flying lap someone put they're pit board out into
my window, shattering it immediately. The session then over, and
with no improvement in my time, I found I had dropped further
to 16th.
I had a brilliant start and passed the row in front of me before
the first corner, and was along side the drivers ahead by the
time we were into the second corner. But a car came spinning across
the infield, and stopped just in front of me. I only just managed
to miss it, but lost all my speed, and all the places I had gained
before the braking area for the esses. I had a hard fought race,
which got extremely treacherous as it started raining mid way
through the race. The eventual pile up ensued, and the safety
car slashed the gap i had made from the cars behind. When the
safety car pulled in, I spun the front wheels, and lost the back
of the pack in front. With huge pressure from Lea Wood, I ended
up losing a place to him on the penultimate lap, finally finishing
in 14th. More...
